For the TV Weatherpeople—

Each day you “score” the weather with much data. I’d then like you to look at how the weather shapes up with a summary judgment of the quality of the weather, as if Mother Nature were one of your students. Tell us how you think She should be graded on Her weather performance that is coming up, and how She really performed yesterday. Give her two grades on the grading scale we are all familiar with, A, B, C, D, F. Of course, that means you, Prof. Meteorologist, our weather-science “instructor”, will have to establish optimum temperature, humidity, and wind speed as the baseline for an “A” in comfort index.

On Another Matter

The quake and tsunami in Japan has raised a question in my mind, a question of imaginative reporting. I presume most of the other people watching those catastrophic events must have been applying that experience to themselves. I kept waiting for the proper authority to be questioned and asked about the chances for a catastrophic event for the listening-viewing area where we sit. If we normally empathize with the plight of those unfortunate people, we had to be thinking about the chance we have for finding ourselves in some equally disastrous situation and what the cause might be. I have heard there is one for the Denver Metro area and Colorado in general. It seems to me that the meteorologist should have the requisite imagination to anticipate such a question.

I did not hear it. I saw one expert quizzed, but such a question was not asked of him. I screamed at the set in frustration. “ASK THE DAMN QUESTION!!!!”

“O, we don’t want to scare people.”

Okay. Let’s all bury our heads in the sand and play ostrich!

Will somebody please get to the meteorologists about this? I have tried, but no response.

  4. Вот мы в своих блогах пишем о себе, о жизни – это понятно. А когда речь заходит о известных личностях, не могут ли они засудить раскрученного блогера за то, что он упоминает известные имена, а роялти со своей прибыли им не платит?

Here we are in the blogs are writing about themselves, about life – it’s understandable. And when it comes to famous people, not whether they can sue hyped blogger for what he refers to the well-known names, and royalties from their profits to them does not pay)
